Thomas A. Marlow was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 9, 1861. He came to Montana and entered the employ of Broadwater and McNamara at Fort Maginnis in 1882. In 1888 he established the mercantile firm of McNamara & Marlow at Big Sandy, Montana, with Cornelius McNamara. He moved to Helena, Montana, in 1893 in connection with the liquidation of the Charles A. Broadwater estate; Broadwater was his uncle, and he was appointed trustee for Mary C. Miller, Julia C.
